Merry Christmas From The Lalaloopsie Mini Dolls

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Diary of a Dollhouse.  The Lalaloopsy mini girls had a splendid holiday this year and wanted to share some of their fun Christmas Village photos.  View the mini Christmas antics on my Diary of a Dollhouse blog.

Newly Remodeled Doll House Kitchen

I've finally made progress on the large dollhouse.  This is the kitchen.  It's finished except for one window frame.  Sophie is enjoying a beverage at the new table.  The cabinets and appliances are vintage Sindy models.  I papered and painted the walls, put vinyl on the floor and painted a fridge so it color coordinates.  There are more photos on my blog, and if you click the dollhouse category you can see the before pictures.  It was definitely a project.  Now moving on to the other rooms.

Meet Clawdia Wolf From Monster High

Clawdia Wolf is big sis to Clawd, Clawdeen, and Howleen.  She loves her little wolfling siblings.  She stars in a new television special Frights Camera Action! to be released soon.  I was Christmas shopping earlier this week and Clawdia jumped right into my cart and came home with me.  I adore her glowing golden mane and sparkly smile.  She's a literature geek and a professional screen writer in Hauntlywood.  I took lots of pictures of her for my Monster High School blog.  Click the link below and read all about my new favorite Wolf member.

Deuce Gorgon From Scaris Is In The House

Here's a quick blog post about my Deuce Gorgon Monster High doll. Click on the link below to read why I love him.  In the photo above he and Clawd Wolf are cooking up some frighteningly good grub to eat while they discuss the latest Monster High news.  I just love Monster High dolls.  Wish I could afford them all.

Emily the Strange Doll

Emily the Strange was originally a graphic sticker created for a line of skateboards.  But immediately she formed a persona of her own and morphed into a counter culture icon.  She's a thirteen year old girl who wears the same black dress every day and has four black cats as best friends.  Her wit is sharp as a tack and she's got a brooding demeanor.  Sounds like a few 13 year old girls I know.  The Emily the Strange doll from Ashton Drake Galleries caught my eye and I had to have her.

My Handmade Dollhouse Kitchen Cabinets

I made this kitchen counter and appliance unit from 2 Kidkraft dollhouse kitchen cabinets.  It took a bit of trial and error and a lot of gluing, sanding, and painting but I'm happy with the result.  I needed it to be compact to fit in the small beach cottage dollhouse so this combines a sink, stovetop, fridge, cabinet and drawer all on one wall.  I'm inspired to try to make a piece of doll furniture on my own now.  You can read about my steps (and mistakes) on my Diary of a Dollhouse blog.

Newest Animated Kids Movies

The best kids animated movies from the summer of 2013 are available on DVD and Blu-ray just in time for Christmas and holiday gift giving.  I saw them all in the theater and will buy them all for my own grandkids to watch when they come over.  If I had to pick a favorite it would be Despicable Me 2 but you can't go wrong with either of the Disney Pixar films either.

How To Make A Shell Filled Lamp For A Barbie Size Doll House

This weekend I made this little lamp for my Beach Cottage dollhouse.  It's a playscale doll house, meaning for 11 1/2" dolls, the size of a Barbie.  I don't collect Barbies, it's just a familiar size so I include the term to help people relate.  Most of my dolls are a similar height.  This lamp doesn't light up, it's just for decorative display.  I had the shells from a trip to Mexico and the rest of the stuff I found at a Dollar Store.  Check out  my easy peasy instructions on my Diary of a Dollhouse blog.

Ellowyne Wilde Wears Her Bay Breeze Ensemble

Ellowyne Wilde got to try on her first change of clothes today.  It's the Bay Breeze ensemble and includes coordinating double breasted jacket, skirt, blouse socks, arm gloves, and a hat.  She's not wearing the hat here because I don't want to damage her hairdo.  It looks very intricate and I know I couldn't replicate it.  She had a mishap while putting on the hat anyway so we will just leave that on the chair or find a hat rack.  See more photos on my blog at.....

Ellowyne Wilde Grand Despair I Photoshoot

The lovely Ellowyne Wilde dressed to kill in her Grand Despair gown.  Despite the fact she's always bored to tears she manages to wake up every morning and dress in the finest fashions.  I've read most of her outfits come from thrift stores, but I imagine her dear departed mother made this one and Ellowyne saved it.  I took lots of pictures of her and the details of her hair and dress to post on my blog.  You can read about it if you click the link below.

Hunter Huntsman and Ashlynn Ella Are At Home In The Dollhouse

Ashlynn Ella and Hunter Huntsman decided to come home with me today.  I've been working on the beach cottage dollhouse and they wanted to sit and discuss their future plans as a couple.  Given that they are both from different fairy tales it's doubtful if they have a forever happily ever after.  They sure are enjoying their time together now though.  You can see lot of pictures of the happy duo along with their close up features, clothes and accessories in my Ever After High Blog if you click the link below.

Happy Halloween From Kelly and Friends

These are a few of my Kelly Halloween dolls.  They are all Target exclusives.  I believe all the Halloween Kelly and Friends dolls were.  So far I've kept these in their boxes because they don't make Kelly dolls anymore.  She has been replaced by Chelsea who is a little bigger but just as cute.  There are dozens of different Halloween Kelly and Friends dolls but nowadays you can only buy them from secondary markets like eBay and Amazon.  Or if you're lucky enough to find someone who is selling a collection.  I keep hoping for that.  Have a fun and safe Halloween everyone.

Lightbrix Light Up Building Sets

I was instantly intrigued when I saw the Litebrix building sets for girls.  I am usually in the doll aisle when I'm browsing store shelves so those are the sets I came across first.  They are so cute.  To me they look like a cross between Legos and Lite-Brite.  And they pieces will connect with other building sets so you can utilize all your Lego Friends pieces too.  I may have to get a couple even if all my grandkids are boys.

Gigi Grant 13 Wishes Monster High Doll

Gigi Grant is my newest out-of-the-box Monster High doll.  I've had her for a couple of months, it just takes me a while to decide when to release them.  Gigi, being a genie and claustrophobic inside small quarters, was very happy to be out. She's got huge eyes, freckles and a dimpled chin. I think here eyebrows make her expression look confused.  And I love the pink scorpion tattoo on her chest.

Progress on the Dollhouse Beach Cottage

Just finished the flooring and chandelier in the upstairs room.  This will be a bedroom as soon as I get furniture painted.  The downstairs is almost finished too.

Wizard of Oz McDonalds Happy Meal Dolls

The dolls in the background are from either the 2007 or 2008 Madame Alexander promotion.  There were 2 different sets. The plastic toys in the front are from the 75th anniversary of Wizard of Oz promotion in 2013.  Both cute but the Mdme Alexander dolls are the best.  Wish they would do a Monster High series of minis.  See them pictured separately on my blog ....

Legacy Day Ever After High Dolls

Raven Queen, Apple White and Briar Beauty are now available in their finest gowns and ready to attend Legacy Day where they proclaim in front of all fairy tale land that they will follow in their famous parent's footsteps.  I think Ravens outfit and headdress is gorgeous in the picture.  I can't wait to get them, but my Justice was sold out.  They have them online though at Justice and soon on the shelves at other stores.  Just in time for gift buying.

Jinafire Long Monster High Scaris City of Frights Doll

I've had my Jinafire Long Monster High doll for a few months but finally released her from her box today.  She's extraordinary.  Beautiful golden skin with scales on her torso, legs and arms.  Look at the detail in her eyes. She's a the daughter of a Chinese Dragon so she's got lots of Oriental style designs in her clothing.  What a beauty.  I can't believe it took me so long to de-box her.  Sorry Jin. See more pictures through the link below.

Ashlynn Ella and Hunter Huntsman Ever After High Dolls

Ashlynn Ella, daughter of Cinderella, and Hunter Huntsman, son of the Snow White Huntsman are available in a 2-doll pack now.  They are in a secret relationship so they're sold together.  I haven't bought these yet.  It seems my doll collecting activities are exceeding my budget constraints right now.  They are just making too many cool dolls too fast.  I think I need to make more money fast.  Look at her cute clock tower purse.  Read more about them by clicking the link below.

Disney Store Singing Sofia The First Doll

The Disney Store Online's Sofia The First is the most adorable doll for little girls ages 3 and up.  I'd say to about age 8.  I've gotten hooked on the cartoon on Disney Junior.  She's a village girls who's mother marries a king and she has to learn to be a princess.  The show is a year old now and has been renewed for another season thank goodness.  It's all about being kind and having manners.  Sofia is the sweetest little princess.

I bought the Sophia the First singing doll online and took pictures while I deboxed her.  You can view them all on my blog and hear the song she sings.  The stores are brimming with Sofia the First merchandise so if you've got a young girl with a gift list this doll may be on it.  Check out the singing version of the Disney doll before you buy.

Disney Infinity Game System

The Disney Infinity game will be on lots of kids Christmas lists this year.  It's incredible.  I played a demo for a few minutes at Toys r Us and would like one for myself.  Of course it helps if my grandson puts it on his wish list this year.  There are a few details you need to know before you dive in and I've written the quick and dirty guide to help you decide if this game is for you.  Plus there's a video of the Toy Box mode which is AWESOME!

Mini Lalaloopsy Pumpkin Candle Light Target Exclusive Halloween Doll

I love Mini Lalaloopsy dolls.  And I love Halloween dolls.  It's my favorite doll theme.  Target sells an exclusive Halloween Mini doll every year and this is the 2013 edition.  Her name is Pumpkin Candlelight and she comes with candy, a pumpkin pie with cute hearts in the top, and a spider on a web.  Eventually I'm going to make little stands for all my Mini Lalas and take pictures.  Read the full story on my blog.

Mini Cabbagepatch Babyland Halloween Angel Doll

I bought another mini Halloween Cabbage Patch Babyland doll today.  I showed a couple that I had found a few weeks ago in this previous post.  Today in a different Target I found this little angel.  I've added her to my Diary of a Dollhouse blog post and I took a photo of all 3 together.  They are so cute. I love Halloween dolls.

Disney Frozen Dolls Christmas Tree Photo

One more photo of my Disney Frozen Dolls.  Standing around the Christmas tree. It's not a real Christmas tree of course. It's not even decorated, so I suppose it's just a white flocked tree right now.  I bought it at Michaels with a 50% off coupon.  It will be the centerpiece of my Dept 56 North Pole village that we set up and surround by our Lionel Polar Express train.  In the Christmas display this tree will be huge.  Not so much with the Disney Frozen dolls.  But I thought it looked a bit festive anyway so I stood them all around the white flocked tree for fun.  I love these dolls.

Princess Ana and Kristoff Dolls From The Disney Frozen Movie

Princess Ana and her friend Kristoff from the Disney Frozen animated movie. Yesterday I opened Elsa and Hans, today it's Anna and Kristoff.  Anna is the protagonist in the movie, which is based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale "The Snow Queen".  These dolls and their outfits are exquisite for the price, around $17 each, and are great for collectors and kids.  The play value is amazing because the dolls are high quality in every aspect.  I'm so happy to welcome them to my collection.  See more photos and details on my blog.

Elsa and Hans Dolls From The Disney Frozen Movie

Meet Hans and Elsa from the new Disney movie Frozen, which will be in theaters beginning around Thanksgiving.  It's Disney's 53rd animated film.  The story is based on The Snow Queen fairy tale from Hans Christian Andersen.  These dolls are magnificent.  I think they are the best Disney dolls so far.  The outfits are incredible. Elsa's dress is a glorious shade of ice blue, simple but elegant.  And Hans's suit is so detailed.  You can read the rest of my observations and see lots more pictures on my blog.  And I'll be reviewing the other character dolls, Anna and Kristoff soon.

Sofia The First Disney Princess Dress Up Costumes

If you're loving the Disney Junior television series Sofia the First as much as we are you'll probably recognize lots of little Disney Princesses dressed in purple gowns this Halloween.  Sofia the First is one of the most popular cartoons in 2013 and little girls love her.  Little boys too, my grandson and I watch the show every week.

There are a few different choices for Sophia costumes and you can find them online so shopping is easy and quick.  The best part about Disney Princess costumes is that your little girl can play princess dress-up for months to come in this lavish gown, sparkly tiara and big purple amulet necklace.  Who knows, you may even hear her talking to the animals because of the amulet's magical power.  Read more about the new Princess Sofia the First on my blog.

Discontinued Hasbro Littlest Pet Shop Blythe Dolls

I'm still on the lookout for the now defunct Littlest Pet Shop Blythe dolls.  Technically there is a new version but she's all molded plastic.  I'm collecting the older versions with rooted hair and eyelashes like the ones in my picture.  I have about 20 of the 50+ that were made.  A few have been spotted at Marshalls, Tuesday Morning, and Toys R Us but they are all the same 3 or 4 models that I already have.  Mostly Cold Weather Cute, Buckles n Bows, Autumn Glam, and Pinwheels n Daisies.  I suppose I'll be buying on eBay or Amazon from now on as I think the store stock has been pretty much depleted.  They were so cute, wish Hasbro had produced them a while longer.

Need To Carry Your Monster High Ghouls Around? Check Out This Doll Case

I picked this case up today at Walmart and love it.  It's quite sturdy and has creepy cool graphics.  The blue transparent chain handle and zipper on the front look Frankie-ish.  It has space to hold 3 dolls in elastic but there's plenty of room to stash other stuff too.  The description on Amazon says it holds 8 dolls, not too sure about that, but it is very roomy.  Made by Tara Toys and sells for a very reasonable price.  Great birthday or Christmas gift for a Monster High Fan.

I don't really have any other fortune telling units.  But this seems like reasonable advice to me. What do you think?

Lego Duplo Bricks For Toy Story Fans

I went to Downtown Disney today looking for dolls and of course I couldn't resist slipping into the Lego building.  I had forgotten how much fun it is. Made a mental note to take the grandkids out there in the next couple of weeks.  Not too many tourists right now.  There are so many fun things for kids to do inside.  Lots of creativity centers.

This Buzz and Woody Lego out front reminded me how much fun they have with Toy Story Duplo sets.  Even the 6 year old still gets them out and builds his own versions of scenes from the movie, and then goes on to create his own endings.  There are a bunch of different sets to choose from.  We have several.  See if there is one for a kid on your gift list.

Disney Frozen Princess Elsa and Anna Costumes

I can't wait until the new Disney animated Frozen movie comes out this Thanksgiving.  It's based on the Snow Queen story by Hans Christian Andersen.  Of course Disney is pulling out all the stops for merchandising in advance. The Princess Elsa and Anna costumes are now available and they are some of the most beautiful and elaborate little girl costumes ever.

As a doll collector I also am anxious to get some of the new dolls.  I see they are for sale on the Disney Store website and was going to order them today but since I live just about 8 miles from Downtown Disney I think I'll mosey on over tomorrow and buy them in person.  I'll report on my Diary of a Dollhouse blog soon.

But for now here's a look at the 2 newest Disney Princess costumes for Halloween.

Sharing My Disney Store Talking Merida Doll

The Disney move Brave is my favorite Disney movie so far.  I love that Merida is a strong willed girl that isn't interested in being married off to her handsome prince.  I love that she has relationship issues with her mother.  And most of all I love her hair.

Merida is a Medieval Scottish Princess who's mother wants to find her a proper husband.  Merida has other plans.  She's interested in archery, not men.  And the story is about the friction that develops because of their stubbornness. In present day, Merida is Disneys 11th and newest princess, crowned in the summer of 2013.

Read about Princess Merida and enjoy some photos of my 17" tall Disney Store Merida Talking Doll on my blog.

Cabbage Patch Kids Babyland Mini Halloween Dolls

I found these tiny bundles of cuteness in the Halloween candy section of Target this morning.  They are mini Cabbage Patch Kids plastic molded dolls "dressed" up in their trick or treating attire.  They even had birth certificates like their larger cousins.  Read my blog post by clicking on the link below and meet Yvette and Cristal, my kitten and witch dolls.

Meet Briar Beauty From Ever After High

Briar Beauty sees the world through Rose tinted glasses.  She will soon be napping for 100 years so she's just having as much fun as possible while she's at Ever After High.  I opened my Briar Beauty doll today and took a bunch of pictures and wrote a blog post.  I've been trying to find a new theme that loads fast on my blog and I'm not happy with what's there at the time I'm writing this but the pictures look pretty good.  She's a really pretty doll.  Check out my post and see her without her glasses.

Back to School - Monsters University Backpacks and Lunchboxes

This past summer's Monsters University movie made Sully (James P. Sullivan) and Mike Wazowski household names for kids again.  It was yet another prequel movie but very well done by Disney Pixar films.  The loveable monsters were back in college about 10 years before the setting form Monsters Inc, and were just becoming friends.

Merchandising for the movie is in full swing and kids everywhere are looking for Monsters University back to school gear.  Here are some great backpacks and lunchbags with the cutest Monsters graphics around.

Lalaloopsy Mini Dolls Series 11 Is In Stores

Series 11 of the Mini Lalaloopsy Dolls includes the 4 main Wizard of Oz characters.  Like all the other Lalaloopsy Mini dolls they are adorable and so collectible. I have to admit I haven't jumped on the bandwagon for the larger dolls but these minis are just too hard to resist.  So far I have around 20 of them, not many from the earlier series because some are hard to find and a bit expensive if you buy them from eBay or Amazon.  But you can bet I'm collecting all of the recently released characters.  Besides the Wizard of Oz dolls, there are 4 other miscellaneous dolls. Luckily I already have one of each - I haven't opened them though.  I think I want to get 2 complete sets so I can have one to play with and one to keep pristine in the box.  Here are the names - Dotty Gale Winds, Baley Sticks N Straws, Kitty B Brave, Tinny Ticker, Pickles BLT, Cloud E Sky, April Sunsplash, and Kat Jungle Roar.  You can view their pictures on my blog post.

Barbie's little sister Kelly was available from 1991 to 2009.  I am collecting the Kelly Easter dolls right now.  Others on my list are Kelly Valentines, and Kelley Halloween Dolls.  Fortunately there are lots still available still in the packages at reasonable prices so it's an easy collection to start.  Come join me window shopping for Kelly Easter dolls.

2013 Is The 25th Anniversary Of Holiday Barbie Dolls

Collectors and doll lovers have been buying Christmas Holiday Barbies for 25 years.  The first doll was available in 1988.  I bought my first in 1989, when my daughter was born.  That doll turned out to be a play doll for her and was well loved for many years.  Holiday Barbies are still very affordable and fun to collect.  The gowns are so detailed.  Even the older versions are still easily found still in the original box.  The prices are a bit higher but you can still find deals on eBay.  Especially if you search outside of the Christmas season.

The new Holiday Barbie is now on the shelves and for sale online.  She's a silver snow princess with gorgeous high fashion jewelry.  You can read about her on my Diary of A Dollhouse blog.  Just click the link below.

Raven Queen Doll From Ever After High

Raven Queen is one of the Rebel fairy tale girls at Ever After High.  She's not quite ready to become an Evil Queen like her mother yet.  In the story she's thinking about her dismal life as a classic hated character and not feeling it.

Raven is a beautiful doll. Lavender eyes and plum and black hair.  Her outfit and accessories have details of a Raven bird.  And she's got the same articulation as Monster High dolls so she poses easily.  I'm amazed at the creativity and quality of modern play fashion dolls nowadays.  Love collecting them.  Read all about Raven  Queen on my blog by clicking the link below.

Catty Noir Werecat Monster High Doll

Catty Noir has a release date of September 13, 2013 because it falls on a Friday and she's very superstitious.  But it appears a lot of toy stores couldn't wait to get her on the shelves.  I bought her today and brought her home to free her from her bindings.  She's a beautiful black Werecat, the 5th in the Monster High line so far. And she's a singing superstar with a glitzy glam outfit and accessories.  Read my review of Catty Noir from Monster High on my blog!  Just click the link below.

My Beach Cottage Dollhouse

Found this dollhouse on Craigslist yesterday and thought it was so stinkin cute I had to run out and buy it.  It's going to be my dollies vacation getaway at the beach. The interior is dark right now but I'm going to paint it bright beachy colors and furnish it like a little weekend getaway.  I can't wait to get started.  Got my coupons for Michaels and am going for paint and flooring tomorrow.  Look at some more photos on my Diary of a Dollhouse Blog.

Clawd Wolf and Draculaura Music Festival Dolls

I know Draculaura doesn't like the sun.  But it was such a pretty day I took some pictures and pretended she does.  Dracularua and her wolffriend Clawd Wolf decided to take a few mintues to sit by the pool and discuss the bands at the Music Festival.

I got my Draculaura and Clawd Wolf Music Festival doll set today at Kmart.  It's a Kmart exclusive.  I had been looking for a while every time I was in the store and finally I found them. They just jumped right in the cart and came home with me.  Right away I opened the dolls and took some photos.  I especially love Clawd because he's been so elusive.  Stop by my blog and see all the pics and read my thoughts on them.
